Management Has Failed Us

No one is reporting to work, and no one knows what to do about it.

I’m not sure what’s happening across the workforce, but everyone in my office seems to have slipped into a hole.

We are admonished during our virtual Monday staff meeting to start coming into the office at least one day a week to catch up with each other, but other than that there is no coordination. So I go into the office at least once a week, on Tuesday, to sit in my little hole for a few hours.

Occasionally I’ll hear a noise down the hall that sends me scrambling toward it like a lonely dog looking for someone to scratch it behind the ear. But it’s usually just the people from facilities scanning the space looking for roof leaks, running water, or space heaters.

I’ll hang for a bit longer then go home.

I‘m in today, where were you?

I’ll get a text from one of my coworkers asking where I am.

Dude, leave me alone. I was in yesterday, where were you?

Nothing in return. Were they really there or not? I shrug and go back to my reading…um, I mean working. Schrödinger’s cat comes to mind as I take a sip of my now cold coffee.
