I’ll Always Pick People Over Product

I’m an anomaly within my organization. The only reason they haven’t thrown me out is that I literally can’t be fired, and that annoys the Holy Shit out of a bunch of project managers.

Why?

Because I value my team over the stuff we’re tasked to build.

I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about what’s next for me and what I can bring to another organization.

Two projects over the past 15 years stand out. Not for the amazing work that we did (it wasn’t) but for the time I spent with people that made me feel like coming to work.

My Big Three

I love technology, building products, and delivering solutions. But I think I love working with teams of passionate people even more.

A weird line exists between what the people at my level are trying to do, and what the people just above us in the organization are trying to do.

We want to take care of our people, build killer stuff, keep the dollars flowing, and have a good time doing it.

Here’s a little peek into the weirdness that is my work philosophy, but I’ll spare you and only share the Big Three.

I’ve been at this…
