Divorce Made Me A Better Person

How the worst episode of my life left me better off in the end.

I’ve always been a list guy.

I’m weird that way, to this day. As a kid, I would sit around my Mom’s office and create lists of things I planned to knock out over the coming years.

From a very young age, my Master Life List looked something like this:

  • Graduate High School
  • Get a Job
  • Get Married

If you were born between the years of 1870 and 2020, your list might look a little similar. And using divorce rates an as indicator, our chance of success is a complete toss up.

I could have easily lost myself in the depression associated with my divorce. I chose instead to use it as a springboard to become a better person.

Graduating high school was a no-brainer, literally. I showed up, and they put me though.

Teachers back then didn’t want to bother with a kid that didn’t put in the effort. I suppose teachers today are probably about the same, it’s human nature.

Next up. Get a job!
